"Saving just one dog won't change the world, but it surely will change the world for that one dog."

My name is Wolfy (now Simon!)…and I am a 6 yr old Samoyed. I have a long story to tell with a happy ending!

I My name is Wolfy (now Simon!)…and I am a 6 yr old Samoyed. I have a long story to tell with a happy ending! I was adopted previously when I was just a pup, from a shelter that didn’t screen their adopters very well…I was taken home and couldn’t wait to be my new owners companion. I wanted to go everywhere with him! I knew I could be a great companion. When I got there, I was chained outside, I figured it was temporary just so I could do my business but it turned out that I was never allowed in the house. Days turned into months, and months into years…it got very cold outside in the winter. The other dog that was outside with me at least kept me company, but then he died one night when it got so cold that he froze. And I was alone again.

I hurt my knee but no one took me to the vet to get my knee fixed. Over time I was having trouble seeing out of my peripheral vision, but my owner didn’t care. I was very frustrated never being around people and always being chained up and just not feeling well. Then one day, the dog catcher came and took me…I don’t know why but I thought I heard them say that my owner was going into a nursing home. I didn’t know what that meant. Then I was back in a shelter…

But then my luck started to change…We found out that I was hyper thyroid which is what caused my eye problem and for me to feel kind of cranky. So the nice people at the shelter got me to the vet and put me on medicine that helped my thyroid and made me feel better. Then a nice woman named Jenifer who had a love for Samoyeds took me in. She got me even more medical care and made me feel part of her Samoyed family while I waited for my forever home. I didn’t have to wait long, only about 6 weeks after I went to Jennifer’s!

Now I am on my way to Long Island to live with a nice new family that saw my story on Cayuga Dog Rescue’s website. I am so excited!!! I am still a little timid and shy and don’t like too much noise or activity, but I know this new family is going to be great and I can’t wait to have them fall in love with me. No more shelters! No more living outside on a chain! I can’t wait for the rest of my life to begin! I’ll send pictures of me with my new family as soon as I can.

Thank you Cayuga Dog Rescue and Friends of the Schuyler County Animal Shelter!
