Donations,
Volunteering, and Funding:
The Friends
of the Schuyler County Animal Shelter Inc. receives no direct taxpayer
funding. We are funded through the adoption fees we collect, and of
course donations from the public. Additionally, we are 100% volunteer,
so other than paying for our phone and a few administrative fees, all
funds go directly to the care of the dogs we rescue.
Because of our commitment
to never deny an animal veterinary care that is appropriate, and to
provide such necessary care for the life of the dog, cash donations
are particularly appreciated. They can be forwarded to us at:
FOSCAS
PO Box 411
Big Flats, New York 14814
While we re-organize
we are not looking for additional volunteer hours but welcome monetary
donations as we continue to provide for special needs dogs placed while
we managed the shelter or dogs remaining in our foster homes.
Donations
of Dog Food
We feed only Canidae or Wellness to our rescue dogs. This is the result
of our commitment to treat all dogs in our foster care as if they were
our own. High quality foods help keep dogs healthy, minimize allergic
reactions, reduce behavior issues and of course minimize waste! Additionally,
mixing and changing brands of dog food that can result when various
brands are donated can lead to some pretty significant tummy upset!
Accordingly we do not generally accept donations of dog food other than
these brands.
Volunteering
as a Foster Family
There is a very special form of volunteering called fostering. Fostering
means taking an animal into your home temporarily while we look for
his or her forever home. All foster homes are screened similar to adopting
families. Fostering can be a very emotional and rewarding experience
and certainly takes a very special person. All costs related to fostering
are picked up by FOSCAS. If you would like to foster, please contact
us at 607-562-8085.
